These are questions that I am often asked. If you have any other questions, please contact me.

THE PHOTOSHOOT

How many photos do you take during a session?

This depends entirely on each individual. I tend to average 80 images an hour but there have been times it’s been much higher. After the photo session, the images go through a culling process. I choose to edit only the very best images from a shoot. On average of 2 hour portrait session, I deliver around 30 high resolution edited and 150 original photographs.

When to book my maternity photoshoot?

I recommend your maternity shoot to be scheduled close to your 30-35-week mark. Give me a call in your second trimester to book!

When to book my newborn photoshoot?

The absolute best time to capture sleepy, curly newborn portraits is from 1-12 days of life. Give me a call in your second trimester to book!

What is the best time for my baby photoshoot?

6-9 months is the best age to capture your baby picture- they’re sitting up, smiling, and can really show off their personality!

What is the best time for couple photoshoot?

I love shooting couple sessions outdoors, so I recommend scheduling between october and march. The rest of the year can be done in studio or in your home.

Is there a perfect time for outdoor photoshoot?

There are 2 perfect times indeed for your photography to be done outdoor! Very early morning, or what we call the “magic hour”: the 1-2 hours before the sun sets. As long as it's not cloudy, you get the most amazing warm, glowing light during this time. Pictures look stunning!

What if I need to reschedule?

No problem! I know that life can get crazy and that sickness might creep up on you. Please try to contact me at least 48 hours in advance in the event that you need to reschedule. We will find a time for your photography session!

What should I wear? How should I prepare?

First, you must stay true to who you are. Be comfortable.

I encourage you to pick a color palette and then coordinate from there. Think textures, layers, hats and jewelry!

In general, simple, plain-coloured clothes tend to work best, as well as clothes with a subtle pattern. It's best to avoid bold stripes and checks as these don't work well in pictures, and try not to have half the family dressed in white and the other half in black as the contrast in the images can be distracting.

When you schedule a photoshoot, you' ll also get a consultation to take place at the photo studio or over the phone. During the consultation, we’ll go over your ideas for the photoshoot, the best wardrobe to compliment your ideas, what to bring with you, and how to prepare for the shoot.

Do you come at home?

Yes. Any photo session can be an on-location session at your home for an extra fee.

Can we incorporate some of our children's hobbies into the shoot, such as swimming, dancing, horse riding?

I'm happy to photograph pretty much anything. I simply ask you to tell me about any specific hobbies in advance, I will want to research it thoroughly to ensure I can capture the very best pictures for you.

If your child is a great swimmer, we cannot photograph in public swimming pools but I am more than happy to shoot in a private pool if you have access to one.

How do we choose our outdoor location?

The location is entirely up to you! The most important thing to keep in mind is that we want YOU to be a big part of the process! You must have a great experience and end up with pictures that reflect who you are and tell your story. When we start to brainstorm ideas for a location, I will ask you things like, “what do you do together for fun?”, “are there any places that are significant to you?”, “what type of settings have you seen in other photos that appealed to you?”, “what do you consider your personal style, individually or as a family?” I can make lots of suggestions based on areas where I like to shoot, but our ultimate goal is to come up with a place that fits YOU!

Can we include our pet in our photoshoot?

Yes! I am open to including pets during photoshoots, but as they are a bit unpredictable, I ask that a family member or friend that will not be included in the pictures to come along and help look after them.

AFTER THE PHOTOSHOOT

How long does it take to receive my pictures?

I know that you are anxious to see your pictures. My post-processing time for photography, on average, is 1 week. I edit all pictures in-house. Sometimes it can take a lot less time depending on the time of year.

I also believe that every client deserves the same amount of care and attention so I always edit the pictures in order of the event date.

Are you able to remove imperfections from the pictures?

Sure! I want you to look your very best, so all portraits get some retouching, especially removing skin blemishes. I can carry out other retouching such as softening lines and wrinkles on request.

What products do you offer?

From simple prints, to frames, cups, and coffee table books, I create for you complete custom products. You choose your design and size as per your taste.

If you plan to purchase frames, measure your walls to see what size is best for you.

How can I keep my digital copies safe?

As soon as you receive your digital files, BACK THEM UP! You can never have too many copies of digital files for safekeeping. Put the original drive in a safe place.
